"We Need to Escape"
You know what sucks about reality? Everything. Yes,
everything. You see it on the TV, you see it in the paper, you see it in the
streets, and sometimes in your own homes. No matter where you look, what you
hear, something bad is happening to someone. Not just one, or two people, but
many, a boatload, a country full, a worldwide bad pandemic of epic proportions
hits our shores every day, and everyone is affected by it in some form or
another.
Let’s face it, the world sucks, and there’s no escape from this harsh universe…or is there? Much like how there’s bad in everything we see, there’s also some good to counter balance it. What is it? This blog is one fine example, or maybe you’d prefer a movie? A favourite show on TV? Or, to be more precise, how about a good book? We, as a species, can’t be overloaded with work, stress, or negative news. It’s not good, and it’s not healthy. We need distractions in our life, good distractions, to keep us alive and maintain our longevity on this planet, to be inspired, and to have our thoughts aspire to greater heights.
We need to escape.
Now, what does the word ‘escape’ mean? To run away, flee,
avoid, break free. To some this could mean an act of cowardice, to not face the
problems in your life, to shut everything out and live in our own, perfect,
comfy world. What’s wrong with that?
The world can be too much for many, so much so that they don’t know how to handle a situation. Are they scared? Maybe, and that’s okay because we all get scared at one point or another. It’s a natural instinct to want to run away from an alarming sight. So, what do we do to make things better for ourselves? A favourite movie, and a bucket of ice cream sounds like a great idea, but curling up to a warm fire and reading a good book sounds like heaven for most. Everyone is different, as is everyone’s remedy for depression. Whatever works, and a good story be it from a movie or a book usually does the trick, no matter what others may think.
So, let’s be happy. Let’s transport ourselves to another universe of existence where everything turns out okay in the end. We can face the world later, it’s still going to be there when we wake up, but, for now, let’s be happy, let’s escape. You owe it to yourself, and your creative mind.

Me? I like to have it both ways. I love movies, and have
a few therapeutic choices to put a smile on my face, and make me forget every
little lingering worry (especially one I haven’t been able to stop watching
since I bought it last September *coughAvengerscough*), and I love reading
books, and comics in particular, anything that can transport my mind to another
world, to live in someone else’s shoes as they try to win the day. If any author or filmmaker has the ability to do that for me, then mission accomplished. They
got their paycheque, they did their job. End of discussion.
It goes for any choice of entertainment, or trying your
hand in anything creative. You need to shut out the noise, the confusion, the
hate, and the entire world to find complete, and utter happiness.
The human spirit needs to be free. So, let’s be happy. Let’s transport ourselves to another universe of existence where everything turns out okay in the end. We can face the world later, it’s still going to be there when we wake up, but, for now, let’s be happy, let’s escape. You owe it to yourself, and your creative mind.
