A Lamb At Christmas (Poem)

Man, how long ago was my last Christmas poem? Well, considering I did thirteen poems for Halloween (which you can read them all here), I thought I'd better do something for the season of giving. So, here it is, a Christmas poem for all of you to enjoy.

A little story before you read; I was requested to write a poem when my talents were brought to light. This was that requested poem. A poem for Christmas is what they wanted, and a poem for Christmas is what they got. They thoroughly enjoyed it, and thought it was very sweet, and I hope you do too.

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

A LAMB AT CHRISTMAS

With a body so white, and walking on fours,
I'm led across this land to explore.
The men with sticks show me the way,
on what I feel will be a glorious day.

The hours pass by,
no more blue, now black in the sky.
And while my senses I shut,
this quiet life will be anything but.

Grazing on the grass.
Ignorant of what was to pass.
A bright light came and went,
with a personage inside sent.

I look up and see my leaders peppered,
though their faces no longer ill, but bettered.
Unable to understand their words,
I'm forced on a journey with the herd.

Walking over stony cobbles,
not a sound was uttered, no squabble.
The pace was increased, quickened, in fact.
Where are we going? I'd like to know exact.

We stop outside a farmers house.
Inside, a man and his spouse.
She bears in her arms a child,
and I thought I saw the infant had smiled.

My owners kneel, and bow,
this kid is important somehow.
Though I don't understand myself,
there is an aura of his wealth.

With the inclusion of three more men,
who give away presents in this den.
There is no doubt, at this point,
this child brings us together at the joint.

So innocent, and so small,
yet his spirit is grand and tall.
If his power is true,
imagine in the future what he'd do.

Around us all, I feel a love,
that brings me peace from above.
And with this gracious birth,
I believe he'll be felt throughout the whole Earth.
